Spring Forward With this Season’s Best Accessories

As the spring season beckons, it means brighter colour palettes coupled with making a bold and daring statement. It’s the season of fun where you get to push your sartorial creativity. What better way to do this, than with this season’s key accessories from On Pedder.

We have rounded up the key trends this Spring along with a list of new designers that are available exclusively at On Pedder.

Fringe Fling
The fashion pack’s obsession with fringing continues. At Dior and Loewe, outerwear trimmed in fringing took centre stage while at Paco Rabanne, a silver metallic fringed dress that screamed sexy French girl was nothing short of stunning. Those looking to channel the trend in easy doses can start with these pretty tasseled earrings from Katerina Markriyianni, Musula Jewels and Lizzie Fortunato.

These are no ordinary off-the-shelf earrings. All the three brands pride themselves in their handcrafted accessories that champions philosophies and ideas from different cultures and places – just like Katerina Markriyianni who grew up in a family of jewellery makers in the Greek island of Crete. Her family influenced her love for jewellery design which led her to eventually create her signature “fan earrings”. All of Makriyianni’s earrings are handmade and her collection is inspired by nature and the beautiful Greek islands.

Wicker Bags
Soak up the sun in style with chic wicker style handbags from Sophie Anderson, Cult Gaia and Heimat Atlantica.

Sophie Anderson, who grew up in Oman, was intrigued by the traditional craftsmanship and vibrant fabrics in her youth which inspired her to launch her collection of raffia bags hand-woven by the Wayyu tribe in Colombia.

If you like yours painted in vibrant hues, then try Heimat Atlantica hand-woven reed Portuguese baskets laced with leather is your answer. This Paris-based brand founded by Montserrat Alvarez, embellishes its structured bags with red, white and blue porcelain fetishes. They are manufactured in a workshop called Sargadelos, known for its rich Galician history and tradition of magic realism.

These latest arm candies may sport a casual beach vibe but don’t be mistaken, they have proven their staying power beyond the sun, sea and sand thanks to the street style stars and social media trendsetters – yes we’re talking about those lust-worthy Cult Gaia Ark bamboo bags. Carry these wicker totes out anywhere whether it’s for brunch, shopping or on vacation.

Art and Soul
Art was a huge trend seen everywhere on the runways for Spring 2018. In New York, Raf Simons worked with American artist Sterling Ruby while Miuccia Prada’s collection in Milan had cartoon works from female artists from the ’30s and ’60s.

There’s no better time to channel your artistic side this season and another way to do it is with sculptural jewellery and heels. We love contemporary and minimalist jewellery designer Nina Kastens – known for her famous zodiac pendants. Those who love bolder and more expressive designs can look to Colombian-born New-York based jewellery designer Paula Mendoza’s eclectic gold pieces. Neous steps it up with sculptural heels shaped into spheres and wheels.
